No Flip Flops!

I started a new job back in February, and I love it, except for one thing- no open toed shoes!  This is the time of year that I would usually be wearing flip flops and strappy sandals.  I have finally settled on the best option- boat shoes! They give the summery vibe, and keep my (pedicured) toes covered.  Here are some that I like:

Beat the heat, before it beats you.

I just went on break, and I am surprised at how good my skin is looking in the awful humid heat today. I should have taken a picture....maybe on lunch.

I'm wearing just as much makeup as I usually do....here's what worked!

I started with an added step before moisturizer:
Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment

The trick is to let is set for a few minutes before you (SPF, of course) moisturize.

I did my usual loose powder under the eyes before starting my shadows.  I started with FACE Stockholm Eye Dust. I used Passion, which is not a scary as it seems. Next, the eye crease... Finally, a light lavender wash in the center of my lid.  Then some liner...a dicontinued fawn colored powder. Wipe the undereye powder away and time for face makeup!

Part two of operation minimize shine:
Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Translucent 0.75 oz

Smooth this on with a sponge, let set, then foundation.  If I had perfect skin, I would have skipped, but I do not.  Alas! Sparingly though is the way to do it.  I did a light "pat and roll" with mineral powder, then blended/dusted with a fluffy brush.

Since I keep my skin younger than me sunscreened, I add some color.  I never do just one, so I'm doing CARGO Blush - .31 fl oz in Topeka on the apples of my cheeks.  I love CARGO blushes, they are highly pigmented, and finely milled, for beautiful blendable color.

Then I hit my high points with a bit of shimmery peach.  And now my skin is all glowy.  Yay!

Just some mascara and gloss, and I look non sweaty, subtle, and totally work appropriate...for once!

What exactly are we addicted to?

Okay, so like everyone else in the beauty/fashion/blog world, I have recently become obsessed with Cat Marnell. I know I am too old healthy to be so fascinated by her, and her partygirlwoeismeI'msoooodeeplycrazy facade kind of annoys me, but I can't stop looking.  I don't think it is even because she is a trainwreck. No, I've decided that Cat Marnell is my role model. No, I don't want to do drugs and be skanky and lose my job after failing our of rehab. but....

If she can be so messed up and keep her beauty bits together, and be actually a pretty prolific writer/editor, then I think the least I could do is exfoliate and self-tan after a 10 hour workday, and occasionally throw a blog post up there!

Bad fashion choice spotted on the bus- bleached out jeans, ripped all up the front of the legs, over gold pleather leggings.

My night at Roxy's

We went to Roxy's Gourmet Grilled Cheese at Cleveland Circle last night.  Fantastic!  Roxy's is food truck that serves, well, gourmet grilled cheese.  I got a Rookie Cheese (jack cheese, tomatoes, mustard and red pepper slaw), Guinness Battered Fried Pickles, and a Diet Coke, all for eight bucks.  We need to talk about the Bistro Sauce that came with the fried pickles.  It's some kind of sweet and spicy aioli.  I don't really know what it is, but I think I'm in love.  Definitely a fun, cheap, and tasty meal.
P.S.  The food truck guys were awesome.  Superb customer service!
